On day 1, we will drive from Entebbe to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. The journey takes approximately 8-10 hours, passing through picturesque landscapes, including rolling hills and scenic villages. Along the way, you'll experience Uganda's diverse scenery, gradually transitioning from the lush lowlands to the dense, mist-covered forests of Bwindi. Upon arrival, we will check into our lodge and prepare for the primate adventures ahead.
At 7 AM, we'll head to the park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing, where you'll be grouped and assigned to a specific gorilla family. The trek, led by park guides, involves navigating dense undergrowth, muddy paths, and steep hills, with chances to spot various wildlife and plant species. Upon locating your gorilla family, you'll spend up to an hour observing their activities and interactions. The entire trek typically lasts 5-6 hours. Afterward, you can optionally join a community walk, visit the Batwa people, explore coffee plantations, or see a local banana brewery to experience the area's culture and local life.
On Day 3, we will drive from Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park to Kibale National Park. The journey takes approximately 2.5 to 3 hours, offering scenic views of the Ugandan countryside along the way. As you travel, you'll experience a transition from the misty, mountainous landscapes of Bwindi to the lush, rolling hills of the Kibale region.
Upon arrival in Kibale, you'll check into your lodge and have the rest of the day to relax and prepare for the upcoming chimpanzee tracking adventure. The park, known for its rich biodiversity and dense rainforests, is home to a large population of chimpanzees and other primates, setting the stage for an exciting wildlife experience
After an early breakfast, we'll head to the park headquarters for a briefing by experienced rangers. You'll learn about the chimpanzee population, tracking process, and important guidelines for a safe and respectful encounter. Tracking can take 2 to 4 hours, during which you'll trek through the rainforest, with opportunities to spot other wildlife and birds. Once we find a chimpanzee group, you'll have an hour to observe them in their natural habitat. Afterward, we'll return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, there's an optional visit to the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community-run project ideal for bird watchers and nature lovers. The 2-hour guided walk offers a rich experience of the area's biodiversity. We'll return to the lodge for dinner and relaxation.
