The day begins with an early morning game drive at 6:30 AM in Queen Elizabeth National Park, where we'll aim to spot animals like lions, elephants, leopards, buffaloes, and more while they're still hunting. We'll also visit the Ishasha sector, known for its rare tree-climbing lions. After lunch at the lodge, we'll head to the Mweya Peninsula for an afternoon boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, a waterway famous for its abundant wildlife and bird species. Expect to see hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and various birds along the shores during this serene cruise.
In the morning, we'll drive from Queen Elizabeth National Park to Kibale National Park, a journey of about 2.5 to 3 hours. After checking into our lodge and having lunch, we'll head to the park headquarters for a chimpanzee tracking briefing. The tracking experience, which lasts 3-4 hours, involves trekking through Kibale's lush rainforest, navigating varied terrain, and observing chimpanzees in their natural habitat. You'll have the chance to witness their social interactions and playful behavior, guided by experts who share insights about the rainforest and chimpanzees.
We'll depart early in the morning for a 4 to 5-hour drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. As we journey from Kibale to Bwindi, you'll notice a dramatic shift in the landscape, starting with rolling hills and open savannas, transitioning to rugged terrain. The drive ascends through lush, terraced farmlands with panoramic views of valleys and mountains. As we near Bwindi, the terrain becomes increasingly hilly and forested, leading to the mist-covered rainforests that characterize the park, showcasing Uganda's diverse geography and rich biodiversity.
At 7 AM, we'll gather at the park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing, where you'll be divided into groups of eight and assigned to a gorilla family. The trek into Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, led by park guides, is an adventurous journey through dense vegetation, muddy trails, and steep slopes. As you trek, you'll experience the vibrant rainforest, with sounds of birds and sights of smaller wildlife. Upon locating your gorilla family, you'll spend up to an hour observing them in their natural habitat. The trek typically lasts 5-6 hours. Afterward, you can opt for a community walk to visit the Batwa people, explore coffee plantations, see a local banana brewery, and meet traditional healers, offering a deeper connection to the local culture
On the final day of your safari, we'll drive from Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park to Entebbe, a journey of about 7 to 8 hours. We'll stop in Fort Portal for lunch and a brief rest before continuing the drive, taking in the scenic landscapes.
